Lance Armstrong just can’t win: Stripped of all his Tour de France titles and banned for life

Somewhere inside my “benefit of the doubt” bones, I still want to think Lance Armstrong is innocent but Lance will probably go down as the biggest sports disappointment in history.

Lance Armstrong was just stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned for life. UCI President Pat McQuaid announced the cycling federation accepted the USADA’s report on Armstrong and would not appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

‘Lance Armstrong has no place in cycling and he deserves to be forgotten in cycling,’ McQuaid said at a news conference…OUCH.

What I don’t get is how come Lance has passed every single doping tests under the sun but stripped of all his titles based on witness testimonials?. Am I missing something? This is all so messy, I really feel it for the guy.

This decision has now cleared the way for Tour de France organizers to officially remove Armstrong’s name from the record books, erasing his consecutive victories from 1999-2005…again…OUCH.

Once a Champion; you better hide for the rest of your natural born life, or your be banned for life.

I agree with you. I’m not an Armstrong fan, but the USADA came at him once and couldn’t make a case. Then a congressional probe couldn’t find grounds for a lawsuit. Those two actions cost Armstrong almost $8 million. Now the latest, where a bunch of “witnesses” have come forward — most of them still racing and reportedly targets for USADA probes — over a decade later? USADA overstepped all its self-imposed boundaries in pursuing this. It’s a personal vendetta and it stinks.
